Specialism – VFX Artist / FX Particles
The idea for this final project has remained the same since the production brief module. The main deliverable aim was to create a full CG trailer heavily focusing on simulation work such as pyro simulations and rigid body simulations whilst also delivering a visually appealing video that the audience can follow along with the narrative of the story. The pre-production module allowed a much larger focus on rigid body simulation whereas originally the focus would have been on the pyro simulations, focusing on a larger range of simulations is a good way to show a larger strength within a final showreel for companies to view. And while the idea to create a CG trailer was still very much relevant, towards the end of the project it became more of a portrayal rather than a trailer.

Originally this was going to be a solo project, but after some thought, this project was decided to be worked alongside another. This allowed the chance to work collaboratively on what already was a large project whilst also focusing on specified areas of the project and displaying this throughout each portfolio to show the work that has been contributed by both members.

"Creating a pyro simulation of this scale was a big learning curve and reaching out for feedback from peers and others was a huge push forward regarding workflow and gathering outside perspectives.
Even after spending countless hours creating the explosion intended from the start, it’s something that can be worked on in the future to tune up and render at a high-quality voxel rate to avoid any pixelation in the volume. As stated before, the rigid body felt quite empty without the pyro simulation happening at the same time, after viewing the two together finally rendered it has more impact and does not feel uninspired but more so helps carry the drama throughout the portrayal."
