Specialism – Architectural Visualiser
In this project a full 3d Unreal engine scene will be created. The focus of the project being real time architectural visualization. A building based of the artwork of Piet Mondrian, with a luxury open feel.
The purpose of this project is to transfer some of my 3d skills from 3dsMax into software such as Unreal engine and this project would be my first attempt at Unreal software. The software is user friendly but also has some more complex systems within, learning this software though places such a YouTube or lecture websites was a large part of the studying. Because this technology is newer, the educational community offer vastly higher quality videos and resources compared to the previous ones.
Texture bombing is a technique used within unreal that was researched into for this project. The planned building has large open floors which are prone to repetition in textures, this method solves this issue. Texture bombing randomly overlays parts of the texture over itself to remove the repeating patterns, making the texture look much more normal and authentic. This type of method works very well for organic textures such as grass or rocks, however the drawback is that bricks or wood boards do not work well at all. Archviz materials such as carpets can benefit from this, which is why this method was investigated.
