Ray Brunstad is a creative and technically capable 3D modeller and prop artist, with a clear passion for stylised game art and a strong foundation in both modelling and texturing. Throughout the year, Ray has been an active voice in group forums and critiques, regularly contributing to discussions and supporting peers with thoughtful feedback.
For his final major project, Ray set out to strengthen the key skills needed for a career in stylistic 3D game art—focusing on prop creation, texturing workflows, and adapting to a range of visual styles. Drawing from a background in 2D art, he approached the project with a strong understanding of form, shape language, and colour theory, using these to inform the creation of expressive, stylised assets.
The project centres on the creation of a varied set of game props, each designed to explore different styles and techniques. From vibrant hand-painted textures to sculpted detail and procedural methods, Ray tested multiple approaches to adapt to different artistic briefs. He placed particular emphasis on clean topology, efficient UV layout, and consistent texel density—key considerations in game-ready asset production.
By focusing on flexibility, artistic expression, and technical efficiency, Ray has developed a well-rounded portfolio that reflects the expectations of a junior 3D prop artist. His ability to balance visual creativity with practical production methods makes him a strong fit for studios working in stylised game development.
