Specialism – Character Artist
The aim for this project was to gain more experience in software used for 3D character creation. The character chosen for this project is an existing 3D character from the game called Darkouls 3, developed by game studio FromSoftware. Slave Knight Gael is a complex character with many design elements. This made it the perfect subject to develop an industry standard workflow. This project required attention to detail to make sure all primary sections of creating 3D characters were consistent in quality.
This character was also rigged.

"During this project there was an opportunity to go to 3D London, an event where students were able to present their work to industry professionals and network. This also was a chance to see studio workplaces and the kind of project these companies had been working on. Including Disguise and MPC Technicolor. "
"If the objects were too close to each other when the normal maps were projected from the high poly, it could destroy the map, leaving unwanted height and texture errors. After grouping the selected objects that share UV’s. The unwrapped UVs needed to be updated. The position of the UV’s needed to align with the shared one. By doing this, objects would be able to share the same texture map, reducing the amount of materials the needed to be exported in the render scene."
