Nikola Tschiedel | BA (Hons) CGI and Visual Effects
Specialism – Games Artist / Character Artist / Illustrator
Fraser is an exceptional technical student and a solid communicator — which has led him to produce some fantastic work on the course and across this, his final year. His technical confidence, creative independence, and leadership have all been pushed to the forefront through his work with 404 Gaming Ltd—a studio he co-founded with graduates from the course after completing a placement in Spain. As Technical Director, Fraser has helped secure funding for their current title, and delivered guest talks to existing students about his journey into the indie dev space.
For his final major project, Fraser created a functional prototype for a modular game system in Unreal Engine, actively supporting the development of 404’s current title. Exploring a customisable weapon system, the project combines real-time rig-based item handling, layered texturing, and gameplay logic into a series of modular tools. It’s really rather impressive! showcasing a depth of understanding across both art and engineering. His CAD workflows, procedural systems, and implementation of character customisation pipelines all point to someone already working at industry level.
Fraser has a clear direction and creative vision grounded in narrative-led science fiction, drawing influence from Metal Gear, Cyberpunk, and classics like Blade Runner and The Forever War. His appreciation for the design language of Cold War-era military hardware brings a tactile, grounded edge to his worldbuilding. That combination of storytelling and structure defines Fraser’s work—and he’s already proving how these skills can be used in industry.
