Specialism – Concept Artist
Melissa Wronka's final major project (FMP) has pushed her to really explore her passion for character creation and her ambition to excel in the video game industry. Inspired by the worlds of "World of Warcraft," "Diablo," and "League of Legends," she has looked to transform her 2D concept art into a dynamic 3D character. The overall goal was to develop a full-body model of a fantasy boss character that seamlessly fit into the "World of Warcraft" universe.  Throughout her time on the course, everyone has been blown away by the quality of Melissa's artwork so this was a great chance to see this being applied contextually to her design ideas/ inspiration.
To achieve this, Melissa has followed an industry-standard pipeline, starting with concept art and moving through stages of modeling, texturing, and rendering. Her project has focused on a detailed exploration of low-poly and high-poly modeling in ZBrush, texturing in Substance Painter, and final rendering in 3DS Max' Arnold. Additionally, Melissa has created her own illustration work in the style of Splash Art, enhancing her understanding of anatomy, color, shape, and composition. This approach has allowed her to refine her technical skills, while developing her online Character Art portfolio. Alongside this, Melissa has been regularly engaging with industry professionals, gaining insights from events outside university and being a 'Rushes superstar throughout the year.
You can see some examples of her work below:

"Since this Game Jam was located outside university in a little work area and hosted by Barclays it was the perfect opportunity to get in contact with people from industry and engage into networking activities about and off work. The Game Jam was not only attended by other students but freelance artist and developers as well as artist and developers with over 15 years of experience as well"
