Specialism – VFX Artist
Joshua is a technical artist and photogrammetry specialist, focused on bridging real-world photography with 3D asset creation for film, games, and virtual production. His recent work showcases a robust understanding of photogrammetry, LiDAR workflows, and scan-based asset preparation for use in high-end visual effects pipelines.
His final year project focused on developing a portfolio of high-quality, optimised 3D scans, emphasizing modular asset packs and large-scale environment capture. With a background in DSLR and drone-based scanning, Joshua has demonstrated strong capability in tools such as RealityCapture, Agisoft, and Metahuman rig integration, with detailed knowledge of manual retopology, mesh optimisation, and texture cleanup for real-time use.
Notable projects include:
A full gas station environment reconstructed via photogrammetry and drone mapping, exploring scale, weather impact, and urban storytelling.
Asset packs consisting of 6–8 game/VFX-ready props including electrical boxes, benches, and a modular gas pump, all retopologised and ready for commercial platforms like Sketchfab or TurboSquid.
Collaborative workflows involving other artists, focusing on scan integration into VFX pipelines, including asset preparation for compositing in Nuke.
Joshua’s aesthetic leans into themes of abandonment, rural decay, and brutalism, producing renders and compositions that highlight the emotive texture of real-world surfaces through controlled lighting and presentation. He also emphasizes workflow documentation, industry benchmarking, and audience engagement via social platforms to align with professional standards.
His work reflects a deep commitment to visual storytelling, technical iteration, and delivering content suitable for commercial use and industry pipelines.
