Specialism – Character Artist
The purpose of this project is to create an original 3D game-ready character. In doing so, the result will be a portfolio piece to showcase a profound understanding of the character creation pipeline. Since this project aims to increase employability in the indie games industry, having a project exploring multiple stages of the pipeline will be incredibly valuable as artists in indie games studios are meant to be competent in a variety of fields due to the smaller team size. With “key deliverables” such as a poly-budget of 70k and clean topology, this project demonstrates the ability to create a character that follows the required technical parameters expected in the industry.
Both outfit designs have a poly count well under 70k and followed the industry standard pipeline from start to finish. Throughout the project, there has been significant improvements in skill across all areas of the pipeline.

"The pin-straight hair was chosen over some of the more elaborate styles of hair typically seen in the steampunk genre because her personality is that of a very isolated girl. A bombastic and bold hairstyle would contrast her character too much. The hair will also glow purple to align with her lore and add interest to this element of her design. "

An outfit variation was created, the difference between the two designs is the addition of shorts instead of a skirt.  A decision was made to remove the puffy sleeves as they don't function well as a standalone piece of clothing, leaving the under sleeves as the items worn on the arms.
