Specialism – Roto/ Prep Artist
The aim for this project was to produce, a piece of work that could be used as portfolio material, when entering the Visual Effects industry, based on other artist’s and industry level reels.
Based on this, a portfolio piece was created as an incentive to create more pieces, that clearly show improvement. In order to achieve this goal, this project includes several separate shots, such as, the original plate, one with the splines, an alpha channel, checkerboard background and overlay, that showcase what a rotoscoping reel should have, and how it could be used.
For this portfolio the main idea was to produce a total of three shots, with respective breakdowns. The portfolio’s report will include the reason to why is roto such an important tool for visual effects and its pros and cons; what software’s can be used the ones mainly used by professionals; rotoscoping techniques, and how long it would take to produce a roto matte.
