Fahzad (Ahmed) Zahir | BA (Hons) CGI and Visual Effects
Specialism – VFX Artist
Fahzad (Ahmed) has a fantastic eye for detail—his visual effects work shows a clear passion for compositing and he has been specifically focusing on his development in Nuke for his FMP. Over the year, he has developed a complex multi-shot workflow using techniques such as rotoscoping, keying, tracking, and colour grading. His final project focuses on integrating CGI into live-action footage with an emphasis on realism, lighting accuracy, and seamless visual coherence (oh, and blowing up Bournemouth Pier!)
Inspired by large-scale productions like Avatar and Avengers, Ahmed set out to create work that not only demonstrates technical ability but also meets the expectations of studios like ILM and Disney. His final composition merges roto-cleaned footage, sky replacements, tracked elements, and screen-blended effects into cinematic sequences with real impact. Particular care has been taken to simulate lighting interaction and preserve depth and perspective, resulting in work that feels polished and purposeful.
Beyond the technical achievements, Ahmed brings a thoughtful approach to his career path—researching industry pipelines, analysing job requirements, and planning routes into freelance compositing and future studio ownership. He’s been proactive in exploring distribution through platforms like The Rookies, Reddit’s r/NukeVFX, and social media, using his work as a vehicle for feedback, growth, and visibility.
His ability to refine footage through node-based workflows, combined with a keen interest in developing high-quality VFX, shows a real commitment to the craft. Ahmed has built a solid foundation in compositing and is well-positioned to take the next steps into the industry.
